Testing new blog page
Hello,
Eileen has made it possible for me to write entries of any lenght on this blog format. I am testing it to see if it works.
Our friends Brandon and Carolyn called this morning and offered to take us out tonight for Tai food, so I am going to do some housework and have that to look forward to tonight. We layed around and watched old black and white movies this morning as a relaxing way to spend some time together. Normally we would be working on remodel projects, but that doesn't seem as important to us now.
I feel well today and actually look forward to vacuming my house and cleaning the bathrooms. The more normal routines I can do, the more normal things seem.
Hillary drove to Lake Chelan this weekend to go wild with some of her friends. I will feel relieved when she calls to tell me she is safely back at home. She did call to let me know they had arrived safely in Chelan. They were going out to breakfast at The Apple Cup Cafe. On of the friends she is with is my friend Keith's son, Chris. He is also very ill with cancer and is enjoying the time he has left. He is only 23 years old!
Well, I need to get my house cleaned up, so I hope everyone is spending this day with loved ones. Maybe the good that can come from this is people examining priorities and letting those who really matter in our lives know that. Also, choosing to do things that we might have been waiting for "some day" to do. I am so glad that I did chose to take my girls on the cruises that we have taken. I never wanted to take a trip because I was sick. I wanted to go when we were all healthy, and we did that. Those memories are in all of our minds and will live on.

Cynthia, it’s a good day to hang around and watch movies. I’m taking the kids to see Shriek III later this afternoon. The blog works well for the longer messages. I left a question on the forum before it was removed from the site, I don’t know if you saw it or not so I’ll ask again. Maybe Eileen can add a question to this blog “what can we do to help?” I can’t imagine the difficulty of deciding about whether or not to go through chemo treatments. Of course all of us in our hearts would want you to do what you can to fight this so we could selfishly spend more time with you but none of us want you to endure any additional pain. These are difficult times to say the least. We’re here to support you in any way we can. That brings me back to my question… What can we do to help you? I asked what music you liked. Specifically do you have a list of favorite songs? If you send me a list of 15 – 20 songs/artists, I could collect and burn them to a CD. Listening to music can lift spirits, give you strength when your down, and help you relax. Like when Eileen used to use hypnosis to help people with different things music can perhaps help in a similar fashion, so let me know if that is something you would like me to do. Of course if there is anything else just let me know.
Love and prayers,
Mike

Mike,I am glad you pointed out that there was a response-I didn't know where to look for it. I will think about the songs that I would like-this is a good suggestion and a comforting way to relax. That new Shrek movie really looked cute-was it good? We saw Grapes of Wrath today-I had never seen in. Thank you for your support and prayers. I am having a good day today but dreading going to the Doctor on Wednesday to talk about chemo.

Mom, if you ever again feel the urge to vacuum I will pick you up myself and take you to my apartment. Keep in mind though that you may have to clear the entire floor first (this more than likely involves folding laundry as well). =) P.S. You're in luck... my bathroom's real small (so is my kitchen...)! Love you. (Side note: I can vacuum for you too, if you need me to. I've been trained well in this area).

Shalia, I hope you will get satisfaction from cleaning your own house like I do from cleaning mine. I wouldn't want a housekeeper because I feel lucky to have a house to clean. I used to only have one bathroom, now I have three and I think about that when I clean them.

Funny that this would bring up a memory...I remember laying the girls down on the floor of the bathroom in your apartment in Bellevue to brush their teeth. You taught me that it was the best way to see in there and get a good brushing done - I used the technique on my own daughter and thought of you often when I was brushing. It was one of many things you taught me about being a mother.
